Makerere University started its Mass Communication degree program in 1988.The program was run under the Department of Literature for 10 years.In 1998, Mass Communication became a full-fledged Department under the Faculty of Arts.The Department has a number of important offices students are encouraged to know and make good use of. Â The Coordinator The Coordinator assists the Head in the day-to-day running of the Department. The Coordinator is especially charged with class scheduling, ensuring that classes are taught on schedule, students registration with the Department and handles time-table matters.

Except where stated, all undergraduate courses are assessed on the basis of 100% total marks with proportions as follows: Course work is 30% and the Written Examination is 70%. All Undergraduate continuous assessment courses are totally by assignments of which a minimum of 8 is graded out of 100%. These marks are converted into Grade Points. |

The admission process starts with the payment of an application fee of Shs25,000 (approx. $15) by an applicant, upon which they are given application forms. Day or Evening Program? Students admitted to the Department of Mass Communication may join either the Day Program or the Evening Program. Classes in Day Program, more suitable for students straight out of high school, start at 7:00 A.M. and end at 5:00 P.M. Evening classes start at 5:00 P.M and end at 10:00 P.M. We start with the Day Program. |
